I am a qualified and experienced music teacher based near Portreath, Cornwall. I offer piano, saxophone, clarinet, flute and singing lessons to all ages and abilities; from beginner to Grade 8 and beyond; lessons in person for students who live locally and online for those who are further afield.

I take students from age 5, and teach using my own original music and schemes of work to ensure that lessons are engaging, challenging and fun, providing solid foundations for a lifetime of enjoying making music.

Weekly lessons can be 30, 45 or 60 minutes long depending on student's age and level. Classes are paid for in monthly blocks, calculated based on 32 lessons per academic year (term-time only), as follows:

30 minute weekly lesson £25.00 (x 32 weeks of the year = £800) Monthly payment £66.66, payable on 1st of each calendar month.

(Recommended for children under 10 years old)

45 minute weekly lesson £37.50 (x 32 weeks of the year = £1200) Monthly payment £100.00, payable on 1st of each calendar month.

(Recommended for adult beginners and children aged 11+)

60 minute weekly lesson £50.00 (x 32 weeks of the year = £1600) Monthly payment £133.33, payable on 1st of each calendar month.

(Recommended for students working towards exams beyond Grade 3)

Please note that these prices are calculated based on starting lessons at the beginning of the academic year, and paying from September to August inclusive. Starting part way through the year may mean the monthly payment is slightly higher or lower, but the cost of each lesson is the same.

Classes are held in person at my studio near Portreath, or online.

If I am teaching lessons via Zoom, students/parents will receive a resources pack for use in any online lessons. This pack will include sheet music, theory worksheets, backing tracks if required and everything you'll need for the full lesson experience remotely.

If a lesson is cancelled by the student then it counts towards your 32 lessons per year. If you are unable to attend your lesson, please give as much notice as possible - then if I am able to offer a different time or a swap then I am happy to do so. If however no swaps are available then the cancelled lesson counts towards your quota and will be marked on the register as 'missed'. Please bear in mind that if a student is poorly then I would prefer to teach them online if they're well enough, to reduce the risk of catching anything!

If Jenni cancels, your lesson will be made up at a time that suits you, usually during the school holidays.

All payments are due on the 1st of the month. Please pay by standing order if possible. Repeated late payments may result in the termination of lessons without notice.

If you wish to discontinue lessons then one month's notice is required. At this point, Jenni will calculate how many lessons have been taken and how much has been paid - any outstanding balance must be paid in full within 7 days.

Most sheet music is included in the price of lessons but occasionally (and for exams) additional music may need to be purchased by students/parents. The cost of exams is not included and will be charged in advance of booking.

By signing up to lessons you agree to adhere to all the terms and conditions above, and acknowledge that lessons may be given in person or online at Jenni's discretion.

For more information, or to discuss availability, please contact Jenni.

A note on practice...

In order to progress, all students need to practice every week between lessons. For young beginners, at least 10 minutes per session, 5 sessions per week.

It is helpful if parents can create a way to track/monitor this, potentially with a small reward system to keep momentum! A star sticker on a chart for every practice session and a little bag of Maltesers for every 5 stars worked for me growing up!

For older children, 15-20 minutes per session, 5 sessions a week, and for adults, as often as time allow, little and often being more effective than sitting for a long time only once a week.
